To Sublime is to depart the material universe altogether for a higher-dimensional mode of existence — generally understood to be richer, larger and final. It is not death and not quite transcendence in any tidy religious sense; it is a door that leads out of the story, taken by those who have, in some sense, finished with the physical world.
A newly-built Mind may even decline existence on first waking, choosing to switch itself off or Sublime at once rather than live. The theme supplies the elegiac note beneath the comedy: even gods, it turns out, eventually leave. See also Mind-State and Continuity.
