CLAIM-2026-08-03-06
On 29 July 2026 the Bundesnetzagentur announced that, with the entry into force of the KI-MIG (Gesetz zur Marktüberwachung und Innovationsförderung von künstlicher Intelligenz), it becomes Germany's AI market surveillance authority, central contact point and complaint office, alongside BaFin for the financial sector and the Landesmedienanstalten for the media sector, and operates an AI Service Desk and an AI Reallabor.
Why it matters
Germany now has a named, reachable regulator with a live complaint intake, while the AI Office holds exclusive competence over a different slice of the same market. For a Berlin team the practical question is which of the two owns each system it ships.
