PSD2 Article 73(1) requires the payer's payment service provider to refund the amount of an unauthorised payment transaction immediately, and in any event no later than by the end of the following business day, after noting or being notified of the transaction.
Why it matters
Puts money behind the definition of authorised. The refund lands first, so the question of who authorised what is settled afterwards on evidence.
