The KI-MIG entered into force in Germany on 29 July 2026, making the Bundesnetzagentur the market surveillance authority for AI in radio equipment and sensitive sectors, and the central coordination hub, contact point and complaints office for the AI Regulation.
Why it matters
It answers the German practitioner's first question — who actually comes asking — and it is narrower than the shorthand 'BNetzA is the AI regulator' that most commentary uses.
