Article 53(1)(b) of the AI Act has required providers of general-purpose AI models, since 2 August 2025, to make documentation available to downstream providers enabling a good understanding of the model's capabilities and limitations.
Why it matters
It is the only obligation in force that reaches this release at all, and it binds the provider rather than the deployer.
