The GitHub CLI feature request for image attachments, cli/cli issue 12960, was opened explicitly as 'critical for agentic workflows', and a maintainer declined unofficial alternatives on the grounds that 'they're a bit hacky and can cause problems at scale'.

Why it matters

The hazard was named in public before it happened, in the issue tracker of the tool involved. Reading the open issues of the tools your agents depend on is cheap threat modelling.
